No Data Corruption & Data Integrity
Discover what No Data Corruption & Data Integrity is and how it can be good for the files inside your website hosting account.
Data corruption is the accidental modification of a file or the losing of info that usually occurs during reading or writing. The reason may be hardware or software failure, and for that reason, a file may become partially or entirely corrupted, so it will no longer work as it should as its bits will be scrambled or lost. An image file, for example, will no longer display an actual image, but a random combination of colors, an archive will be impossible to unpack because its content will be unreadable, etcetera. When this kind of an issue appears and it is not noticed by the system or by an administrator, the data will be corrupted silently and if this happens on a drive that is part of a RAID array where the information is synced between different drives, the corrupted file will be duplicated on all other drives and the damage will be permanent. Many commonly used file systems either do not feature real-time checks or don't have high quality ones that will detect an issue before the damage is done, so silent data corruption is a common issue on hosting servers where substantial volumes of data are kept.

No Data Corruption & Data Integrity in Shared Hosting
The integrity of the data which you upload to your new
shared hosting account shall be ensured by the ZFS file system that we take advantage of on our cloud platform. The vast majority of hosting suppliers, like our firm, use multiple hard drives to keep content and because the drives work in a RAID, the same information is synchronized between the drives all the time. When a file on a drive is damaged for some reason, yet, it is very likely that it will be reproduced on the other drives since alternative file systems don't feature special checks for that. In contrast to them, ZFS works with a digital fingerprint, or a checksum, for every single file. In case a file gets corrupted, its checksum won't match what ZFS has as a record for it, and the bad copy will be substituted with a good one from a different disk drive. As this happens instantly, there's no possibility for any of your files to ever get damaged.

No Data Corruption & Data Integrity in Semi-dedicated Hosting
In case you go for one of our
semi-dedicated hosting plans, you won't have to be concerned about silent file corruption as we use ZFS - a high level file system which monitors all the files in real time. Every time you upload a file to your web hosting account, ZFS will assign a unique digital fingerprint to it - the so-called checksum. This file will be synchronized between a number of SSD drives for redundancy, so if a drive fails, the other ones will take control. ZFS compares the checksum of all the copies on the different drives and if it detects a damaged copy, it replaces it with a healthy one from a different drive. This happens in real time, so there will be no threat for any part of your content at any time. In comparison, all of the other file systems execute checks after a system malfunction, but since they don't use anything similar to the checksums which ZFS uses, they won't detect silently corrupted files, so a corrupted copy may be replicated on the remaining drives as well and you can lose critical info. As this is not the case with ZFS, we are able to guarantee the integrity of every single file you upload no matter what.
